Located just 4 miles from our front gate, is 102 acres of undeveloped and unspoiled land remain in its natural state for wildlife education, nature walks and the appreciation of nature.
The Natural Area includes three scenic trails that traverse the property across ridges and along the Coal Rivers with signage & exhibits explaining the history and culture of the Coal River Watershed. Educational programs & events are ongoing throughout the year.
Access is at our front gate. The Walhonde Water Trail provides a venue for kayakers and anglers to enjoy 88 miles of water recreation.
The watershed includes 840 square miles including the Big Coal River, Little Coal River and 541 named creeks.
The fish population of the Little Coal River is widly diverse. Including, Walleye, Muskie, Small Mouth, Spotted, White andother Bass species along with Garr, Trout, Drum and Carp.
